Add the complete quoted charges, match shipment and service assumptions, and filter for eligibility before selecting the lowest total.
Put the quote on a common basis.
Start with linehaul, then list the fuel surcharge, accessorials and other disclosed charges. Record whether the fuel percentage applies to linehaul or another defined basis. Do not compare one provider’s linehaul-only figure with another provider’s total.
Use a worked comparison.
| Synthetic offer | Linehaul | Fuel | Services | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | $430 | $90 | $25 | $545 |
| B | $410 | $90 | $30 | $530 |
Offer B has the lower illustrated total. If A meets a two-day delivery and B requires three days, A remains the relevant choice for a shipment that needs two days. The figures are synthetic; they demonstrate the comparison rather than a current market rate.
Confirm the services that change the invoice.
Residential or limited-access locations, liftgate use, appointments and inside delivery can change the cost. Ask which services are included and which depend on actual events. Also check minimum charges, quote validity and the freight information on which the rate depends.
Keep the evidence through delivery.
Store the quote number, selected service and shipment brief. Compare the invoice with that record. A changed freight fact or additional service needs a different explanation from a pricing or billing error.
